Bhopal, March 19, 2026: Mohan Yadav said that the governance principles of Vikramaditya continue to remain relevant even after two millennia, highlighting their role in shaping modern ideas of good governance and social harmony.
He was addressing the Vikramotsav 2026 celebrations at Ravindra Bhavan, where the Koti Surya Upasana programme and a theatrical performance on Emperor Vikramaditya were organized.
New Year Begins with Vikram Samvat 2083 and Cultural Celebrations
Marking the beginning of the Indian New Year under Vikram Samvat (Year 2083), the Chief Minister extended greetings on multiple festivals celebrated across India, including:
Gudi Padwa
Navratri (Ghatasthapana)
Cheti Chand
Navreh
He described the occasion as the “auspicious moment marking the beginning of creation”, deeply rooted in Indian cultural and natural cycles.
Vikramaditya’s Governance Model Highlighted
CM Yadav emphasized that Emperor Vikramaditya:
Defeated foreign invaders and restored order
Promoted social harmony and justice
Ensured debt relief for citizens
Laid early foundations of people-centric governance
He noted that the enduring legacy of Vikramaditya reflects India’s long-standing tradition of inclusive and welfare-oriented administration.
Brahm Dhwaj Installation and Cultural Programme
During the event, the Chief Minister:
Performed Brahm Dhwaj स्थापना (flag स्थापना)
Lit the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the programme
Attended the staging of a play on Vikramaditya
He said the Brahm Dhwaj symbolizes unity, service, and collective responsibility toward the nation and society.
