Jaipur, March 19, 2026: In a major crackdown coinciding with Navratri, authorities in Jaipur have busted an illegal fetal sex determination racket, arresting three individuals including a doctor and seizing a portable sonography machine and vehicle.
The operation was carried out under the National Health Mission as part of strict enforcement of the PCPNDT Act, which prohibits sex selection and prenatal gender testing.
Decoy Operation Exposes Organized Network
Acting on intelligence inputs under a whistleblower mechanism, a special team conducted a decoy operation to track illegal activities across Jaipur and nearby districts.
Under the supervision of senior officials, the team:
Contacted accused doctor Dr Sher Singh Rajawat
Arranged a meeting at a private facility in Sanganer
Tracked the movement of the decoy pregnant woman
The accused allegedly charged ₹80,000 for conducting illegal fetal sex determination.
Illegal Sonography Conducted at Secret Location
The investigation revealed that the main आरोपी Hari Kumawat transported the woman to a residential flat, where:
A portable ultrasound machine was used
The fetus was identified as female
The operation was conducted outside any authorized medical facility
The team immediately raided the premises and arrested the आरोपी.

Another आरोपी, Jagbir, is currently absconding.

Repeat Offender and Fake Credentials Under Scanner
Officials revealed that:
Hari Kumawat is a repeat offender, with two prior FIRs under the PCPNDT Act
He is reportedly only 10th pass and was conducting illegal tests for money
The doctor’s medical credentials are under verification
The network allegedly involved middle agents who referred pregnant women for illegal testing.
Zero Tolerance Policy Against Sex Determination
Amit Yadav, Mission Director, reiterated a “zero tolerance” policy against illegal sex determination and female foeticide.
Authorities have urged citizens to report any such activities to protect the rights and lives of unborn girls.
