Bhopal, April 28, 2026: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved development projects worth over ₹26,800 crore, with a major focus on infrastructure, education, irrigation, and healthcare.
A significant portion of the allocation—₹26,311 crore—has been approved for Public Works Department (PWD) projects over the next five years (2026–2031), covering construction and upgradation of infrastructure across the state.
In a key social policy decision, the Cabinet approved a sharp increase in scholarships for Other Backward Class (OBC) students under the hostel scheme, raising the monthly amount from ₹1,550 to ₹10,000. The revised scheme will benefit 100 new students annually, marking a substantial boost to educational support.
The Cabinet also sanctioned ₹155.82 crore for the Lakhundar High-Pressure Micro Irrigation Project, aimed at strengthening rural irrigation infrastructure. Additionally, ₹80.41 crore has been approved for electrification of 38,901 Anganwadi centres, improving basic facilities in early childhood care institutions.
In the healthcare sector, revised administrative approvals were granted for expansion projects, including ₹79.16 crore for increasing postgraduate seats at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, and ₹174.80 crore for the expansion of the super-speciality hospital at Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa.
An additional ₹490 crore has been allocated for medical education, Anganwadi services, and irrigation-related initiatives, further strengthening the state’s social and physical infrastructure.
