In a significant step towards enhancing social and financial security for state employees, the Chhattisgarh Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI) under the State Government Salary Package.
Under this agreement, regular state government employees who maintain their salary accounts with SBI will receive comprehensive insurance coverage worth several crores of rupees completely free of cost, without paying any additional premium.
Key Insurance Benefits Under the MoU
As per the agreement, eligible employees will receive:
₹1 crore Personal Accident Insurance
₹1.60 crore Air Accident Insurance
₹1 crore Permanent Total Disability Insurance
₹80 lakh Partial Disability Insurance
₹10 lakh Group Life Insurance
In addition, SBI RuPay cardholders will receive an extra benefit of ₹10 lakh, enhancing the total insurance cover under the card-linked scheme. Health insurance top-up facilities will also be made available to employees at concessional rates.
Government’s Commitment to Employee Welfare
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the State Government is continuously taking concrete steps to ensure the safety and welfare of its employees. He said that the MoU with SBI will serve as a strong financial protection shield for employees and their families.
Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary described the agreement as a crucial initiative to safeguard employees against financial risks. He emphasized that providing such extensive insurance benefits without any additional financial burden reflects the government’s employee-friendly policies.
MoU Signing Details
The MoU was signed on December 22, 2025, in the presence of the Finance Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh. With this agreement, regular state employees will not only gain access to enhanced banking services but will also receive significant financial security for themselves and their families in the event of accidents or unforeseen circumstances.
