Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched Paramarsh, a scheme introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for mentoring institutions aspiring for National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation, in New Delhi.
The initiative aims to promote quality assurance in higher education institutions across the country through structured mentorship and institutional collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that the scheme represents a paradigm shift in institutional mentoring, wherein high-performing institutions will guide and support other institutions in enhancing their academic performance and achieving accreditation. The programme will focus on key areas such as curricular aspects, teaching-learning and evaluation, research, innovation, institutional values, and best practices.
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank noted that the scheme is expected to significantly contribute towards addressing the national challenge of improving the quality of higher education in India.
The minister explained that the scheme would operate through a “Hub & Spoke” model. Under this framework, the mentor institution, referred to as the “Hub,” will provide guidance and support to mentee institutions, known as the “Spokes,” through a range of services aimed at self-improvement and quality enhancement. The model is intended to ensure centralized operational efficiency, optimal resource utilization, and overall institutional development.
