Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Hari Babu Bagde, has dedicated his first year in office to the welfare of tribal and indigenous communities. On this occasion, he visited the tribal village of Bilwan in Kotda, Udaipur, on Wednesday. He marked the eve of completing one year in office with a simple celebration among the local tribal residents. Governor Bagde was sworn in on July 31, 2024.
In Bilwan, Kotda, he interacted warmly with the tribal residents, listened to their concerns, learned about their products and occupations, and called upon officials to work for their welfare.
Since assuming office, Governor Bagde has consistently aimed for Rajasthan’s holistic progress, aligned with the vision of "Abhyuday", or upliftment. With this mission, he has prioritized development issues across districts, conducted extensive tours, engaged in direct dialogue with citizens, chaired review meetings, and ensured effective implementation of central and state government schemes and public welfare policies.
Concerned about the dangers of chemical farming, he has advocated for natural farming practices. Emphasizing cooperation, he promoted collective developmental efforts across sectors. He visited remote locations across the state to ensure the integrated development of dairy and tribal areas through close monitoring of welfare schemes.
His tenure also marked key advancements in higher education. As Chancellor of state universities, he initiated the process of NAAC accreditation for all institutions to ensure quality. The University of Rajasthan successfully received NAAC accreditation under his leadership. He also emphasized improving the lives of tribal communities by enhancing the marketability of their local products.
Through regular district-level review meetings, border area visits, and ensuring timely convocations at universities, Governor Bagde has established a strong vision to guide Rajasthan “towards Abhyuday.”
For the first time, a national workshop of subject experts was held on natural farming to raise public awareness. At the Raj Bhavan level, initiatives were taken to strengthen cooperatives to benefit rural, poor, and backward communities. Major state departments were reviewed at the Raj Bhavan to ensure effective implementation of welfare programs and policies.
To make Rajasthan a leader in higher education, he emphasized NAAC accreditation and hosted the first NAAC workshop for universities at Raj Bhavan. Under the new education policy, he supported the launch of entrepreneurship courses in universities.
During ‘Operation Sindoor,’ he organized an interfaith harmony meeting at Raj Bhavan, calling upon all religions and political parties to unite with a “Nation First” mindset for Mother India. As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “One Tree for Mother” campaign, he planted a “Sindoor” tree at Raj Bhavan and continually raised awareness about planting and preserving large, shady trees across the state.
He also encouraged intellectual development among students and promoted teaching that enhances cognitive abilities. Focusing on border districts, he undertook special visits to all areas adjoining Pakistan, met with deployed soldiers and locals, and worked to address their concerns.
To boost tribal welfare, he advocated the promotion of local products. On Independence Day, Raj Bhavan hosted an exhibition of tribal products for the first time. Under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, he maintained regular dialogue with people from other states living in Rajasthan and celebrated the foundation days of other states at Raj Bhavan.
He also hosted celebrations of the birth anniversaries of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj at Raj Bhavan, with participation from the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. Promoting energy conservation, he emphasized that "saving electricity is equivalent to generating it" and encouraged natural light use during office hours. Starting with Raj Bhavan, he implemented the practice of not using electric lights during daylight unless absolutely necessary, leading to a statewide initiative in energy conservation.
Under the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” campaign, initiated by Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, he encouraged citizens to plant and preserve large, shady trees.
