New Delhi, July 1, 2024: A three-week Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) began today at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)
The STTP is being organized by the Department of Computer Engineering from 1st July 2024 to 22nd July 2024. Prof. Bashir Alam, Head, Department of Computer Engineering is the Convener and Dr. Sarfaraz Masood as well as Dr. Mohammad Zeeshan Ansari are the coordinators of the said training program. The STTP received overwhelming response as 792 candidates applied for it but 151 candidates have been selected on first come first serve basis.
The programme began today with an inaugural function held in the auditorium of FTK-CIT, JMI. Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Officiating Vice Chancellor, JMI graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Prof. M.N. Doja, Director, Indian Institute of Technology , Sonipat, Haryana was the Guest of Honour of function.
Prof. D.K. Lobiyal, Ex Dean, School of Computer System and Sciences, Jawahar Lal Nehru (JNU), New Delhi was the Key Note Speaker.
Prof. Mohammad Shakeel in his address motivated the participants, students of B.Tech., M.Tech., Ph.D. and faculty members to design and develop cheap and the best AI-driven systems and applications for innovative initiatives in healthcare, education, agriculture, e-governance, defense, and other public services to make the life of common citizens more comfortable, easy, and safe.
Prof. M.N. Doja in his address highlighted the current trends of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in different areas and AI tools for research.
Prof. D. K.Lobiyal imphasised on the importance of AI , ML and development of LLM and Chat GPT.
Prof Bashir Alam, in his opening remarks, gave a glimpse of the training programme and said that the participants will be skilled in the field of AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, LLM and Data Science.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated Prof. Bashir Alam and his team for organizing the STTP.
The welcome address was given by Prof. Mini S. Thomas, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JMI.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Tanvir Ahmad, Department of Computer Engineering, JMI followed by singing of National Anthem by the gathering.
