Dr. Zakir Hussain Library, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) organized an orientation program for new students of BLISc and MLISc on 7th August,2023 (Monday).
On this occasion, Officiating University Librarian Dr. Sufian Ahmad said that the Department of Library and Information Science is an evolving department where high demand for careers in the field, both in government and private sectors are available. In addition to working as librarians, students of library and information science may work as research assistants to professors or in publishing companies in preparing bibliographies and catalogs. By attaining higher education in this field, one can get job opportunities at esteemed designations. Library Science is an interdisciplinary course, where huge scope for expanding possibilities along with mathematical and statistical models used in research is existent!
Delivering the welcome address, Library Science and Information Course Coordinator, Dr. Shahbaz Hussain said that librarians can easily find jobs in universities, colleges, court houses, public schools, law offices, museums and local library buildings. A librarian must have a passion for books and learning.
All the students gave their own introductions and told why we have chosen this field in the program.
Faculty teachers and University Assistant Librarian Sandeep Sharma, Dr. Sultan Omar, Shazia Alvi along with Library Science students and Dr. Zakir Hussain Library staff were present on the occasion.
