The University Polytechnic of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a two-day workshop on January 29th and 30th, 2025, entitled 'SPARK' (Skills for Presentation of Articulation, Research & Knowledge). The event was conducted in partnership with ASK Academy and AMAN (Advancement of Mankind and Nationalism), a non-governmental organization. The primary objective o f the workshop was to enhance students’ essential professional skills while promoting their personal development in the areas of articulation, research, and knowledge sharing.
In his welcome speech, Dr. M.A. Khan, Principal of University Polytechnic, expressed his enthusiasm about the workshop’s potential to positively impact the future careers of students. He was joined by Dr. M. Nasim Faruque, Head, Electronics Engineering Section, who also welcomed the AMAN team and encouraged students to actively engage in developing their professional skills for a successful future.
The workshop’s keynote speaker, Dr. Gourpreet Siingh, shared invaluable insights on the importance of building professional competencies for long-term career success. His address motivated students to prioritise skills such as effective communication, research acumen, and knowledge dissemination—skills that are essential in both academic and professional realms.
Approximately 110 students enrolled in Diploma in Electrical, Computer, Electronics, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering participated in a series of interactive sessions and activities under the aegis of the workshop. These sessions were designed to enhance their ability to present their ideas clearly and persuasively.
On the second day, students were given the opportunity to showcase their newfound skills through on-stage presentations. These presentations were evaluated by distinguished faculty members, Dr. Abdul Naseeb Khan and Dr. Farah Jamal Ansari, who assessed the students’ articulation, research depth, and overall presentation quality. The best performers were awarded prizes in various categories based on their performance in the events.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M.A. Khan who expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts of Mr. Arshad Nawab Khan, President, AMAN & his team in conducting the motivational workshop. He further acknowledged the tireless efforts of the departmental events organizing committee members, Dr. Sunil, Dr. Shane Haider Rizvi and Dr. Shaan Ameer whose dedication ensured that the workshop was conducted smoothly and successfully.
