The Department of Environmental Science, Faculty of Engineering &Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI), organized a one-day online Workshop on Curriculum Development for M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Management program on 12th March 2022. More than 25 experts, academicians and resource persons from different institutes, universities and industry participated in the 4 technical sessions of the workshop.
The program started with a brief introduction about the workshop and the objective of the M.Sc. Environmental Science & Management program by Professor Sirajuddin Ahmed, In-charge, Department of Environmental Science, JMI.Prof. Ibraheem, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI in his welcome address thanked the academicians and experts for participating in the workshop.Dr. Alok Kumar from the World Bank, New Delhi raised the importance of industry and academia interaction for the success of such a program.
Dr. Rajneesh Singh, University of Minnesota, USA emphasised that the curriculum for such a program should focus upon energy restoration, static & dynamic environmental monitoring and energy conservation.The Chief-Guest of the event was Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. APJAK Technical University, Lucknow. He enlightened the audience with his technical expertise about the curriculum development and holistic approach for a multidisciplinary program like environmental science.
In the concluding session Prof. J Ramkumar from IIT K and Dr. A. K Vidyarthi from Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB),New Delhi suggested that graduating students should focus on innovative solutions for local environmental issues and challenges. They should also emphasize on integration of indigenous and modern technologies for low-cost mitigation and management of environmental pollution.Academicians and experts from IITK, IITR, IIT BHU, JNU, DU, AMU, BHU, CUJ, NPL, CPCB, NEERI, CRRI, NSVIT, Word Bank, NIDM, GIZ, University of Minnesota USA, University of Erfurt, Germany and industrialists from Ecorys, Triveni, Life green systems and Toshiba participated in this interactive program and suggested constructive inputs for the curriculum development.
