Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) today organised a one-day virtual seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ (IPR), online extension lecture on ‘Concept for design and development of plastic products’ and other events to celebrate National Science Day.The virtual seminar on IPR was organised by the Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF), JMI. The objective of the program was to discuss the scientific contribution of Nobel Laureate Sir C V Raman, issues related to scientific inventions and intellectual property right.
JMI Vice Chancellor and Chief Patron of the seminar Prof. Najma Akhtar in her address congratulated everyone for the National Science Day which is celebrated on 28th February every year to mark the invention of the Raman Effect. The day is not only for celebrating the achievements of our scientists but also to encourage youth to develop scientific temper and promote high quality scientific research.
JMI Registrar Prof. Nazim Husain Al Jafri was the patron and Prof. Seemi Farhat Bashir, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences was the co-patron of the seminar which was organised under the supervision of Prof. Z. A. Ansari, Professor In-charge, CIF and Convenor of the seminar Prof. Tokeer Ahmad. The online Extension Lecture titled ‘Concept for design and development of plastic products’ was organised by the Department of Chemistry, JMI to celebrate National Science Day under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahtosav.
The department observed science week during February 22- 28, 2022.The event was organized under the aegis of Chemistry Subject Association and chaired by Prof Nahid Nishat, Head, Department of Chemistry. Dr. Rahisuddin, Assistant Professor, Advisor, Subject Association, Department of Chemistry, JMI was the Convener of the event.Prof Nahid Nishat introduced the Invited Speaker Prof Roli Purwar, Department of Applied Chemistry, Delhi Technological University, Delhi.
The main objective of the event was to provide participants with an all-around growth of scientific intelligence, as well as information on the use of plastic goods in everyday life, the life cycles of plastic items. The lecture was resourceful in terms of the principles of New Education Policy.The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Saiqa Ikram, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry JMI.
