New Delhi, September 14: To celebrate India’s successful journey to the moon with Chandrayaan-3 and to develop scientific curiosity and a sense of national pride among its students, the Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a One-Day Inter-departmental Collage Competition. The event was held on September 14 (Thursday) in the department’s premises, featuring registrations from ten departments, with each team comprised two students.
Registration for the competition followed a first-come, first-served basis, attracting enthusiastic teams who displayed their artistic and creative talents while crafting collages on the theme “Bharat ki Chandramaa Yatra” (India’s Lunar Voyage). The resulting collages were showcased as exhibits, attracting a large and interested audience to the venue. The panel of judges included Dr. Md. Khursheed Akram, Head applied sciences & humanities (university of polytechnic) and Mr. Syed Arif Ali, Lecturer (School) in Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia who evaluated the collages.
Prior to announcing the winners, Prof. Arshad Ikram Ahmad, the Head of the Department and the convenor of the event, delivered a motivational speech in which he commended the innovative endeavours of all participating teams and instilled a sense of national pride. The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Ali Haider and Dr. Sameer Babu M., the two dynamic faculty members of the Department. Prof. Anita Rastogi, Prof. Harjeet Kaur Bhatia, and Prof. Kaushal Kishore, Dr. Sarita Kumari, Dr. Zeba Tabassum, and all other faculty members graced the occasion with their presence and encouragement.
The top three teams received prizes, with the first prize awarded to a team comprising Ms. Farheen Ansari and Ms. Noreen Faiz from the Department of teacher training and non-formal education (IASE), the second prize to Mr. Asmat Khan and Ms. Alveena Yousuf from the Department of Mathematics and the third prize was earned by a team comprising Ms. Saniya Gauri and Ms. Afifa Khatoon from the Department of History and Culture. All the participating teams also received certificates in recognition of their contributions. The memorable event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sameer Babu M.
