In a powerful response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor early on Wednesday (May 7, 2025), carrying out precise missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). These camps were associated with terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, known for orchestrating attacks against India.
The airstrikes targeted key terror hubs in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Sialkot, Gulpur, Bhimber, and Chak Amru, which had been identified through intelligence gathering. The strikes, executed at 1:44 am, demonstrated India's commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable after the brutal Pahalgam attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives (25 Indians and one Nepali citizen).
PM Modi’s Firm Stand:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his resolve to pursue those responsible "to the ends of the earth" and to deliver justice "beyond their imagination." He emphasized that terrorism against India will not go unpunished.
Pakistan’s Reaction:
Reacting to the strikes, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the action, calling it an "act of war" and asserting that Pakistan has every right to respond forcefully. He stated, "The Pakistani nation and armed forces know how to deal with the enemy. We will never allow the enemy to succeed in their nefarious goals."
Emotional Responses from Families:
Families of those killed in the Pahalgam attack expressed a mix of grief and pride. Asavari Jagdale, daughter of martyr Santosh Jagdale, said, "Hearing the name of the operation made me cry... It is a true tribute to those killed by terrorists."
Support from Across the Country:
Political leaders across the spectrum expressed their support. Congress leader Ajay Rai congratulated the army and said, "This was a much-needed response. The families who lost their loved ones will feel a sense of justice." Similarly, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi praised the operation, stating, "The deep state in Pakistan must be taught a lesson so that another Pahalgam never happens."
A Strategic Move:
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held discussions with the chiefs of all three armed forces following the operation. The strikes aimed exclusively at terror camps, showcasing India’s strategic restraint while sending a strong message against terrorism.
