Jamia Hamdard celebrated WORLD AIDS DAY with theme “Global Solidarity and Resilient HIV Services”. On World Aids Day 2020 Jamia Hamdard called for “Renewing fight to end HIV”, “Use of innovative HIV services to ensure continued HIV care”, “Engage and protect our nurses, midwives, and community health workers”, and “Prioritize the vulnerable – youth and key populations”.
The University took this opportunity to thank community health workers, nurses, doctors, scientists & everybody involved in the fight against HIV around the globe. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed entrenched inequalities existing in access. The varsity highlighted the need to step up their efforts to achieve healthier societies who are at the forefront playing an key part in supporting people living with HIV & helping to end AIDS.
NSS Jamia Hamdard celebrated WORLD AIDS DAY by organising a lecture on HIV/AIDS through Google meet. Prof. Syed Mahtab Ali NSS program coordinator addressed the NSS volunteers. Highlighting the importance of the day, Prof.Syed Mahtab Ali said that, the day is celebrated worldwide to renew our efforts to save the lives of patients suffering from this dreaded disease. He asserted that this is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for the people living with HIV and to commemorate those who died from an AID’s related illness. The programme was attended by the students and members of the University.
An online poster competition was also organised by NSS Jamia Hamdard . The theme of the poster was ENDING THE HIV/AIDS EPIDEMIC. The poster making was judged by expert committee; Arisha Mariyam BUMS IInd year got the 1st Prize and 2nd prize was won by Zeba BUMS final year junior while Nagma Shaheen got 3rd position. The prizes will be distributed to the winners on Republic day 2021 by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.
