Under the International Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, IIHMR University, Jaipur, has been identified as a “Partner Institute” for organising international training programs for participants from foreign ministries. In this series, the first program, titled International Training Program on Transformational Leadership for Health System Strengthening (TLHSS), is being organised by IIHMR University in Jaipur from February 16-27, 2026.
The intensive training program brings together 30 participants from 13 countries, forming a diverse and dynamic cohort of mid- to senior-level health professionals. The participating countries include Bhutan, Ecuador, Fiji, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Tunisia.
Dr PR Sodani, President, IIHMR University, shared, “India has emerged as a key partner in global capacity building, particularly in the domain of health systems strengthening. Global health challenges today demand collective wisdom and collaborative leadership. The future of health systems lies at the intersection of leadership and technology. As digital health, artificial intelligence, and data analytics redefine healthcare delivery, it is imperative to equip leaders with the skills to harness these tools effectively.” He further said that the program will deliberate on brand building and consumer behaviour in pharmaceutical marketing, promotion of medical devices in hospitals. He further said that the two-week training program is designed to provide participants with in-depth exposure to a wide range of contemporary and critical themes essential for strengthening health systems.
Mr Naresh Goyal, Commissioner (Medical Education Department), Government of Rajasthan said that the training program has been designed to address emerging global health challenges and the training aims to strengthen leadership and managerial skills in health systems including, public health policy, health economics and financing, supply chain management, pharmaceutical management, data visualization, big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, brand building, and implementation science.
Dr Himadri Sinha, Provost, IIHMR University, Jaipur, said that the program covers the foundational health systems building blocks, India’s public health programmes, alongside learning from visiting health institutions in India. Participants will be further exposed to global case studies from implementation science and development studies, enabling them to draw practical lessons from diverse contexts.
Ms Kirti Agarwal, Program Coordinator, highlighted that this is one of its kind programs offered in India for participants from foreign ministries. Participants will gain learning from field visits to various public health institutions and adopt the best practices we have to strengthen their health systems.
