The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at the Saidpur Police Outpost in Kharkhoda area of Sonipat while he was accepting a bribe of ₹5,000. The arrest was made after the officer allegedly demanded money from a youth in connection with action in a road accident case.
According to officials, the accused ASI had sought the bribe from a resident of Panipat in exchange for favourable action in the accident-related matter. Following a complaint, the ACB conducted a verification of the allegations and subsequently laid a trap.
As soon as the bribe amount was exchanged, the ACB team, which was already positioned at the spot, caught the ASI red-handed. After the arrest, the bureau carried out necessary documentation and formalities at the Saidpur police outpost.
