The Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, Jamia Millia Islamia hosted the first of it’s kind event “Innovation Think Tank Capacity Building Program in Health Architecture” by ITT, Siemens Healthineers from 14thto 17thNovember 2023.
The inaugural event was held at the Conference Hall, FTK-CIT on 14th November, 2023. It began with the recitation of the Quran. Prof. Hina Zia, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics extended a cordial welcome to the guests and the audience. The Chief Guest, Padmashri Prof. Najma Akhtar, ex-Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia and the Guest of Honour, Prof. Sultan Haider, Founder of ITT, Siemens Healthineers were felicitated with mementoes and saplings as a token of appreciation.
Prof. Sultan Haider addressed the audience next where he talked about the program and gave an overview. He mentioned that the program is an “experiential learning training” based on the experience of successful implementation and management of Innovation Think Tank programs and labs at Siemens Healthineers and several prestigious institutions worldwide.This was followed by the key address by Prof. Najma Akhtar. She talked about the students of Jamia Millia Islamia and the prospect they hold to make the program a success. She later mentioned that Jamia provides education in various fields that cater to complex problems and advised students to follow a multidisciplinary learning approach for better education. A total of 65 students and faculty members selected from 2 departments had participated in the event. The students were shortlisted from 85 applicants based on the interests received through online registration followed by interviews. The program had interactive sessions and the participants worked in Ten interdisciplinary teams. They worked with their Faculty Mentors for 3 days on their ideas. The teams worked on the workstreams of “Hospitals of the future” and “Patient centred hospitals” and created various prototypes and presented outcomes in the final exhibition on the concluding day.
The Valedictory Session was held on 17th November, 2023 from 11 am onwards. The event started with the recitation of the Quran and welcome address by the Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, Prof Hina Zia. The Chief Guest, Prof. Eqbal Hussain, Vice-Chancellor(Officiating)s, Jamia Millia Islamia and the Guest of Honour, Prof. Sultan Haider, Founder of ITT, Siemens Healthineers were felicitated with mementoes and saplings as a token of appreciation. Prof. Sultan Haider explained the context and the idea of the program which spanned 4 days. The Chief Guest, Honourable Vice Chancellor (Officiating) Prof. Eqbal Hussain discussed the works of the participating teams in the final outcome Exhibition displayed. He then addressed the students regarding the execution of ideas, patents and its application in the Healthcare sector. The program ended with a Vote of Thanks by the Dean followed by High Tea.
