The State Insurance and Provident Fund (SIPF) Department has introduced a series of upgraded security and transparency measures on its SIPF portal to safeguard contributors’ interests, ensure secure financial transactions, and strengthen the state’s e-governance system.
Joint Director (Public Relations & Headquarters) Prahlad Kumar Meena stated that a Freeze/Unfreeze system has now been implemented for GPF and insurance accounts. All GPF accounts have been frozen as a safety precaution. Unfreezing any account will now require approval exclusively from the district office’s Unit Head. Additionally, payment-related transactions will remain restricted on unfreezed accounts, eliminating the possibility of unauthorised withdrawals.
Under the Post-Audit mechanism, every auto-withdrawal will undergo a post-audit check, with real-time reports displayed on the portal. In cases where excess payment is detected, the concerned bill will be immediately cancelled upon the recommendation of the scheme in-charge. Through log maintenance and IP address tracking, every update made on the portal is recorded, and the IP address of each transaction is preserved, ensuring accountability and transparency.
In the OTP and SMS authentication system, notifications of auto-withdrawals will be sent to contributors and district officers via SMS. OTP verification has been made mandatory for portal login, with OTPs sent to the mobile number registered in the employee's SSO profile. For added security, auto-withdrawals from pre-2012 ledgers exceeding ₹10 lakh will only be allowed after district office authentication. All transaction screens will display the amount both in numerals and words. Any changes to employee details can now be made only by district office officials. The system also enforces automatic logout after 30 minutes of inactivity, and SIPF users cannot forward or approve their own loan, withdrawal, or claim applications.
Under internal security controls, developer access has been restricted to five fixed IP addresses, and the developer password has been made dynamic, generating a new password each day. This ensures that the developer team cannot access the system from any other location. User access rights for officers have been defined strictly according to their roles, preventing them from performing transactions outside their assigned responsibilities.
With all these provisions, the SIPF portal has been upgraded into a secure, transparent, and highly reliable digital platform. This initiative not only protects contributors’ interests but also enhances trust, transparency, and technological efficiency in the state’s financial administrative system.
