In a major step towards advancing Rajasthan’s renewable energy roadmap, the state Energy Department will organise a state-level session on December 10 to mark Pravasi Rajasthani Day. The theme of the session is “Policy to Practice: The Evolving Role of BESS in RE Integration,” aimed at accelerating sustainable and reliable clean energy across the state.
Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the country and the state have witnessed record growth in renewable energy investment and production capacity. He added that Rajasthan is taking decisive steps to strengthen energy security, with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) playing a crucial role.
Nagar informed that the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation has approved a tender for 6,000 MWh standalone BESS capacity. Additionally, a 5000 MWh BESS project has been planned along with the 2450 MW solar project at Pugal Solar Park, Bikaner, by Rajasthan Solarpark Development Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Ltd. This project will enhance grid stability and ensure power availability during peak demand hours.
The session will focus on integrating BESS with renewable energy to enhance grid stability, ensure seamless power supply, and improve energy distribution efficiency. Experts will discuss technical frameworks, policy strategies, and financial models essential for mainstreaming clean and stored energy into the power sector.
