Bhopal, June 11: In a significant step towards improving infrastructure and public welfare, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav approved multiple key decisions on Tuesday, including a ₹21,630 crore outlay for rural connectivity, fee waivers, and district development strategies.
₹21,630 Cr Cleared for Chief Minister’s Mazra-Tola Road Scheme
The cabinet gave theoretical approval for the Chief Minister’s Mazra-Tola Road Scheme, aiming to connect approximately 20,600 remote settlements with 30,900 kilometers of all-weather roads. Implemented in two phases from FY 2025–26 to 2034–35, the ₹21,630 crore scheme will be entirely state-funded. Settlements with over 100 residents and no all-weather road within 50 meters will be prioritized. District collectors can revise lists based on local needs such as education, health, and security, with final lists to be published at the state level.
Mandi Fee Waiver on Imported Toor Dal
To support local food processing industries and ensure adequate supply, the cabinet approved a complete exemption of mandi fees on toor dal imported from outside the state. This move is expected to boost availability, lower costs, enhance logistics, and generate employment in Madhya Pradesh.
Working Women Hostels Approved in Four Districts
The government also sanctioned the construction of four working women’s hostels—in Jhabua, Singrauli, Dewas, and Narmadapuram—each with a 350-seat capacity, under the SASCI 2024-25 scheme. The ₹40.59 crore project will be executed in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
District Development Advisory Committees to be Formed
A new initiative to promote grassroots governance was cleared with the formation of District Development Advisory Committees chaired by the Chief Minister. These bodies will formulate long-term district plans, support “Vocal for Local” initiatives, and offer guidance on employment generation, infrastructure, water conservation, agriculture, and industry.
Each committee will include MPs, MLAs, local civic heads, and 20 domain experts, with the district collector serving as the member-secretary.
Scholarships and Loans for Meritorious MBBS Students
In a major decision to support medical aspirants, the cabinet approved a scholarship-cum-loan scheme under the Chief Minister Meritorious Students Scheme. From academic session 2025-26, students ranking within the top 1.5 lakh in NEET and admitted to government or private medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh will receive full tuition reimbursement—via a mix of scholarships and interest-free loans.
Loan waivers will apply for graduates who work in state-designated rural areas—50% after 2.5 years and 100% after 5 years of service. The scheme will be integrated with other welfare portals to ensure transparency, and income certification will follow a self-declaration process.
