Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the state government is working with full commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to make the country a leader in solar energy. He said Madhya Pradesh will contribute 100% towards realizing Prime Minister Modi’s dream of making India self-reliant in solar energy production up to 500 gigawatts by 2030. He added that over 350 investors from across the country and the state enthusiastically participated in the Surya Mitra Agricultural Feeder Scheme Summit held in Bhopal, resulting in expected investments exceeding ₹20,000 crore.
Addressing the summit at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav honored Global Expert and GIZ Project Director Mr. Bernard Kreuzberger for technical cooperation.
Dr. Yadav praised Prime Minister Modi as the leader of the world’s largest democracy, under whose leadership development has progressed in every sector, especially in energy production. Large-scale solar and wind energy generation is happening in the state. Madhya Pradesh’s solar energy powers the metro train in New Delhi and supplies electricity to many homes. Soon, solar projects will be launched in collaboration with neighboring states, running in 6-month cycles to ensure electricity availability.
The Chief Minister also mentioned improved harmony among states during Modi’s tenure, citing river linking projects with Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. Citizens are being engaged in energy production campaigns. He emphasized the infinite energy potential of the sun, explaining its significance in the solar system and Indian culture, where lighting lamps symbolizes sun worship.
Dr. Yadav explained that the state’s Energy and Renewable Energy Departments are working jointly. The Surya Mitra Agricultural Feeder Scheme aims to include even small investors, a commendable effort. The state has made great strides in all sectors during Modi’s 11 years in office. Madhya Pradesh now has a power surplus. Land blessings have been done for 22 renewable energy manufacturing units in Mohasa Babai, expected to create 24,000 jobs. By 2025, solar rooftops will be installed on all government buildings.
He highlighted the floating energy park in Maheshwar, and major solar projects in Neemuch and Rewa. The renewable energy capacity has increased 15 times, with solar energy up 48% and wind energy up 19%. Currently, more than 9300 megawatts of renewable projects operate in the state. Bank subsidies are available for renewable energy projects. Solar energy will improve farmers’ lifestyles and preserve coal reserves. The government will help farmers become self-reliant and free from electricity bills, with 3.2 million solar pump connections planned in the next three years.
Renewable Energy Minister Shri Rakesh Shukla said the summit will help fulfill Prime Minister Modi’s dream of making India a leader in solar energy and support Madhya Pradesh’s unprecedented contribution under Dr. Yadav’s leadership. The summit plays a key role in implementing the Surya Mitra Agricultural Feeder Scheme, targeting 1900 substations with full-capacity projects under mission mode. Investors have the freedom to choose a central subsidy of ₹1.5 crore per megawatt for their projects. This innovative plan also encourages reactive power incentives, boosting the ‘Vocal for Local’ mission with ample investment and employment opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Minister Shukla added that projects under the scheme will get a 3% interest subsidy for up to 7 years under the Government of India’s Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF), easing investor burden. Technical collaboration is ongoing with German agency GIZ. MOUs with State Bank, Central Bank, and AU Small Finance Bank ensure organized financing for investors.
Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar stated that under Dr. Yadav’s leadership, emphasis on green energy will resolve power shortages, provide ample electricity, and reduce pollution for future generations. His department is working closely with Renewable Energy Department. Solar pumps will benefit farmers, and the government will also buy surplus electricity from them. Savings on electricity will be invested in basic facilities like schools and hospitals.
Additional Chief Secretary of Renewable Energy Shri Manu Srivastava said significant efforts are underway to provide more solar energy to farmers during the day. The Surya Mitra Agricultural Feeder Scheme is an ambitious project being successfully implemented. Challenges in execution will be resolved.
Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Shri Neeraj Mandloi said continuous efforts are being made in solar energy, with enthusiastic participation from all. Departments linked to production and distribution are diligently working under Dr. Yadav’s dynamic guidance. This summit is crucial for the development of new energy. Farmers are now generating electricity to run their irrigation pumps. After the PM-KUSUM-A project, the Government of India has set a target of 3.5 lakh units under PM-KUSUM-C for the state, equivalent to about 1725 MW capacity.
MD of Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation, Mr. Amanbir Singh Bains, provided detailed information about the Surya Mitra Agricultural Feeder Scheme and its implementation to investors. He explained tender document procedures and said investors and farmers will benefit from the provisions of PM-KUSUM-C. The large-scale scheme units have an average capacity of 5 MW, requiring ₹20 crore investment each. Local industrialists, investors, developers, and farmer investors selected at each district substation will contribute to state development, creating business and income opportunities for 25 years along with affordable electricity. Workshops will be regularly conducted featuring national and international experts for training. A one-and-a-half-year contract with GIZ will bring new dimensions to solar projects. To ensure timely completion, investors and developers will receive permissions through a single-window system with minimal documentation.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav awarded certificates to active participants Atul Kumar, Nitin Bhargava, Divyansh Sharma, Devendra Singh Chauhan, and Anamika Kumari. He handed over Letters of Award to investors Abhishek Tiwari (Neemuch), Harchandra Maheshwari (Dewas), Vinod Porwal, Surendra Singh (Bhopal), and Nirmala Barkha (Panjapura). The event was attended by Minister of Backward Classes and Minority Welfare (Independent Charge) Mrs. Krishna Gaur, Madhubani MP Shri Ashok Yadav, Managing Director Shri Avinash Lavania, investors, and other senior officials.
