Jaipur, March 9: Rajasthan Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot on Monday informed the Assembly that 360 hostels across the state have been repaired at a cost of ₹60.73 crore under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
Replying to supplementary questions raised by MLA Kailash Chandra Meena during the Question Hour, Gehlot said that ₹1.93 crore has been spent on repair work in eight hostels in Banswara district over the past two years.
He added that in the Garhi Assembly constituency, repair works have been approved for hostels including the Government Tribal Ambedkar Girls Hostel and the Government Ambedkar Scheduled Tribe Hostel, with ₹15 lakh sanctioned for each project, and the works are nearly complete.
The minister also said the government may consider increasing hostel capacity in the future depending on the number of students seeking admission, and efforts will be made to include the proposal in upcoming budget announcements.
In a written reply to the main question, Gehlot said that five hostels — four government-run and one aided — are currently operating in the Garhi Assembly constituency, and no proposal for opening a new hostel in the area is under consideration at present.
