The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has carried out a major action in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, arresting a RIICO (Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation) official while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The accused has been identified as Bhavani Shankar Swami, a Section Officer posted at the Senior Regional Manager’s office of RIICO.
According to ACB officials, the arrest was made by the ACB Jodhpur City unit following a complaint alleging demand of illegal gratification for allowing work to resume on an industrial plot.
Plot Cancelled in 2024, Bribe Demanded After Restoration
ACB Director General Govind Gupta said the complaint revealed that a plot allotted in the Kishangarh Industrial Area in the name of the complainant’s sister-in-law had been cancelled by RIICO in 2024. After an appeal, the plot was later restored by the department.
However, the accused Section Officer allegedly demanded ₹30,000 to allow construction work to restart on the plot and to upload the required documents online in the official records. The complainant claimed he was repeatedly harassed over the demand.
Trap Action and Arrest
After verifying the complaint, the ACB laid a trap. During the operation, Bhavani Shankar Swami was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount at the Senior Regional Manager’s RIICO office in Jaisalmer.
