Delhi, January 04, 2022: Dating Sunday is a global phenomenon that sees young men and women flock to dating platforms to find a new date or start afresh. Observed on the first Sunday of New Year (this time on January 2 2022), dating apps record a high surge in new user registrations as well as the number of messages exchanged or pairs matched.
The Dating Sunday of 2021 – Jan 3 saw a 21% increase in number of app visits on TrulyMadly, India’s most loved dating app, as compared to the previous Sunday, December 27, 2020. The dating app witnessed a huge surge in registrations by male users with close to 90% increase in new male registrations as compared to previous Sunday. The new female registrations saw an increase by 42%.
In addition to more user registrations, dating platforms also witness a growth in the number of matches. TrulyMadly saw 70% more matches on dating Sunday of 2021 as compared to the previous Sunday.
A key indicator behind the success of finding a match is also the growth in messages exchanged between users, signalling that both male and female users are actively seeking a partner to build a social connection with in the New Year. TrulyMadly noted a 113% increase in messages exchanged on the Dating Sunday of 2021. The most active time when the platform sees massive user interactivity on the global phenomena is between 8pm to 1am.
