
A three-day online workshop for more than hundred pre-primary and elementary level school teachers of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) that commenced on 21st July 2020 concluded yesterday. The workshop aimed at equipping the teachers in online teaching and assessment. It was organized by the Department of Educational Studies, JMI.
In her valedictory address Prof Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, JMI stated that new technologies are opening ways to transform practices in schools and they are opening ways to transform practices in schools. Education is also moving away from ‘a teaching culture to a learning culture’.
She further added that online teaching and learning will be taking place in a big way now as all JMI school teachers are well equipped in skills of identifying, selecting and using the online teaching learning and assessment tools as well as strategies.
Prof Aejaz Masih, Dean, Faculty of Education, JMI said that in the present time, the ability of teachers to keep adapting and innovating will be crucial.
In this Workshop the beside the faculty from IASE , JMI sessions were conducted by Prof. Indu Kumar (CIET), Dr Rajesh Kumar (Principal DIET, Daryaganj), Prof Anupam Ahuja (NCERT), Pramod Kumar ( renowned puppeteer)and also by Dr Kazim Naqvi (Officiating Director, CIT, JMI).
Participants also got exposure to ways through which learners were engaged on virtual platforms by two leading schools of Delhi NCR. Moushumi Bose, Head Mistress, Salwan Montessori School, Gurugram and her team and Ms Anuradha Handa, Principal, G D Goenka Public School, Gurugram and her team comprising of Ms Srishti Bajaj, Head Mistress, Junior Wing and Ms Shalini Tandon .Head Mistress, Middle Wing shared their online teaching strategies. They also got an opportunity to experience online assessment strategies adopted by the G D Goenka Public School, Gurugram.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr Savita Kaushal and Dr Aerum Khan from IASE, Faculty of Education, JMI.
