National Disaster Response Force has deployed 124 teams across the country to respond to natural and man-made disasters. In preparation for the monsoon season, 84 teams have been pre-positioned at 71 locations across 23 states based on flood vulnerability assessments, while 40 teams remain stationed at 27 Regional Response Centres (RRCs) for rapid emergency response.
NDRF teams deployed in Assam and Bihar are actively assisting state administrations in relief and rescue operations. In Morigaon district of Assam, NDRF personnel rescued and evacuated 65 stranded people to safer locations. In Bihar’s Darbhanga and Motihari districts, teams evacuated 31 stranded individuals.
Apart from rescue operations, NDRF teams are also supporting local authorities in distributing relief materials and providing medical assistance to affected residents.
During the current monsoon season, NDRF teams have evacuated nearly 11,800 people from flood-affected regions across the country and provided medical assistance to over 2,400 people in various states.
The NDRF is continuously monitoring the flood situation and remains in close coordination with the Central Water Commission and the India Meteorological Department for further deployment as required. A 24x7 NDRF control room in Delhi is also actively coordinating with concerned agencies to monitor developments and ensure timely response.
