In Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district, a man has fallen victim to a marriage scam. He paid the bride's family for the marriage, but now he has been deceived. Let's find out the full story.
A case involving a "looter bride" has been reported at the Civil Lines police station in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. The victim, the husband, filed a complaint with the police, claiming that he was scammed under the pretext of purchasing a bride. His wife attempted to take his money and flee while keeping him captive. However, she was caught and brought to the police station. The bride claimed to the police that she had no knowledge of who the husband paid to purchase her, and she doesn't even know those people. The police are now investigating the case.
The incident occurred in the village of Sustani, Khujner tehsil, in Rajgarh district. The victim, Rakesh Nagar, said that after a dispute with his first wife, he left her and began searching for a second wife in Vidisha district. During this time, he came into contact with a middleman named Shaitan Singh from Vidisha. Shaitan introduced Rakesh to a girl from Vidisha and arranged a meeting with her family. The family demanded ₹1.70 lakh for the marriage, and Rakesh agreed to pay.
After returning to his village, Rakesh arranged the money and handed it over to the middleman, Shaitan Singh. The marriage was then finalized. Rakesh and the girl from Vidisha were married in a Hindu ceremony at the Shiva Temple on the banks of the Betwa River. After the marriage, Rakesh took the girl to his village.
Just two days after the marriage, the girl insisted on visiting her parents for Raksha Bandhan. When Rakesh refused, she held him captive and called 100 Dial Police. After police intervention, they advised taking the girl to her family in Vidisha. However, when they arrived in Vidisha, Rakesh couldn't find the girl's family or anyone at their home.
Rakesh tried contacting the family by phone, but all the numbers were switched off. He then took the girl to the Civil Lines police station.
During hours of questioning, the bride repeatedly changed her statements, raising suspicion. It was discovered that the relatives she had introduced during the meeting were also fake. Under strict interrogation, the bride provided an address of an uncle in the Peetal Mill area. However, when the police investigated, they found the house empty. The police are now probing further, and it was found that even the Aadhaar card used for the marriage was fake. The bride claimed to be of the Yadav caste, but her Aadhaar card listed her as belonging to the Vishwakarma caste. The investigation is ongoing.
