New Delhi, August 5: A two-day National Research Seminar was organised by the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) on 2nd and 3rd August, 2024. The event was held in a hybrid mode at the Centre for Information Technology (CIT) of the university. Conceptualised, organised and managed by research scholars of the Faculty, the seminar was attended by Ph.D scholars from across the country. The objective of the seminar was to foster peer interaction and learning about research, with a focus on promoting partnership among institutes for a meaningful dialogue with a wider outreach among research scholars.
The Seminar stands testimony to the beauty of dialogue on the vulnerabilities and dilemma of research. A total of thirty research papers were received from ten leading institutions and universities across nine states. The seminar was divided into five major themes, namely Research Methods, Literature review, Case studies, Tools and techniques, and Survey and Questionnaires. The Seminar also included expert sessions related to Research by Dr. Mahendra Sethi, an urban environment expert; Dr. Jatinder Kaur,an expert in Sustainable building design; and Dr. Satparshi Sanyal, an Architectural Historian.
Dr. Sethi talked about various research methods with examples from the real time world and shared his experience of working with research organisations across the globe. Dr. Jatinder Kaur talked about carrying forward the Research work so that the budding researchers, students, and the society at large is also benefitted. She shared her experience of getting IPR and getting the due recognition from the research undertaken by the scholars. Dr. Saptarshi Sanyal shared his experience gained in BartlettUniversity College London, which was supported by a Commonwealth Scholarship. Taking forward from “They Say, I Say,” his talk revolved around the process of reading, comprehending the literary work, and the process of academic writing.
The research scholars took active part in the interactive sessions and appreciated the inputs shared by expert speakers. The faculty mentors, Prof. Hina Zia and Prof. Nisar Khan, appreciated the active participation of research scholars as well as their research initiatives.
