Story in Key Pointers :
The district administration has intensified action against illegal paddy transportation from neighbouring states during the procurement season.
On Friday morning around 6 AM, a joint team of the Revenue and Mandi Department intercepted an illegal consignment in Nangur tehsil.
Acting on a tip-off, officials set up a checkpoint on a border route and stopped a mini truck (CG 06 M 0155) coming from Chandli, Odisha.
Upon inspection, the vehicle was found carrying around 100 sacks of paddy.
The driver failed to produce any valid purchase or transport documents, confirming the paddy was being transported illegally.
The administration immediately seized the paddy and the mini truck under the Mandi Act and handed them over to Nangur Police Station for further legal action.
Officials involved in the operation included Naib Tehsildar Lakhiraram Pandey, Rohan Kumar BC, Doman Lal, Mandi Inspector B.K. Delhiwar, and Patwaris Shankar Baid, Somesh Nagesh, and Dinesh Singh.
Authorities stated that strict monitoring in border areas will continue to curb illegal paddy movement.
In a separate action at Singasari, the administration seized 27 quintals of illegally transported paddy along with a pickup vehicle (OR 24 A 7629).
SDM Manish Verma said the action was taken based on accurate information received from villagers.
The vehicle was intercepted near Bangla Dongri, where officials found large quantities of paddy packed in sacks.
The driver, Nityanand Chaudhary of Singasari, could not provide any valid documents related to paddy transport.
The paddy and pickup vehicle were seized on the spot and kept at Karpawand Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The administration reiterated its commitment to prevent illegal paddy procurement and inter-state smuggling during the procurement season.
