The Mahatma Hansraj Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MH-MMTTC), Hansraj College, University of Delhi, under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Scheme, University Grants Commission (UGC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering Sciences & Technology (SEST), Jamia Hamdard, successfully inaugurated two two-week Refresher Courses on “AI for Educators and Researchers: Concepts, Tools, and Applications Across Disciplines.”
The programme has received an overwhelming response, with over 200 participants registered from across India, reflecting the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in education and research.
The inaugural session was graced by Professor (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, as the Keynote Speaker. In his address, Professor Alam provided an in-depth overview of Artificial Intelligence and its transformative impact on teaching, learning, and research ecosystems, emphasizing the need for ethical, inclusive, and interdisciplinary adoption of AI in higher education.
Professor Parul Agarwal, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Dean, SEST, Jamia Hamdard, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the Department’s commitment to academic excellence and its growing engagement with interactive, interdisciplinary, and future-oriented capacity-building programmes.
Dr. Anurag Kakkar, Deputy Director, MH-MMTTC, Hansraj College, introduced the objectives and activities of the Centre under the Malaviya Mission Scheme, followed by Dr. Sherin Zafar, Coordinator of the Refresher Programme, who detailed the structure, academic design, and expected outcomes of the course. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Zeeshan Ali Haq.
The programme is being coordinated by the Department of CSE, SEST, Jamia Hamdard, with the coordination team comprising Dr. Siddhartha Sankar Biswas, Dr. Imran Hussain, Dr. Richa Gupta, Ms. Gautami Tripathi, Mr. Aqeel Khalique, and Ms. Nida Iftekhar, who are jointly overseeing the planning and execution of this 12-day intellectual and academic engagement.
