Key updates on ongoing activities:
A Central Team has visited the confirmed case and all six symptomatic contacts.
The one confirmed positive case admitted at Aster Medicity, Cheranelloor, Ernakulam is currently conscious and has only mild fever.
A total of 316 contacts are under daily follow-up.
Six symptomatic contacts admitted to the quarantine facility at the Medical College have all tested negative for Nipah virus as per reports from NIV Pune. Three of these contacts are now afebrile.
A sample from one additional symptomatic contact is being sent to the NIV laboratory for testing.
The Strategic Health Operation Centre (SHOC) at NCDC has been active since 4 June 2019 and is coordinating Nipah containment activities. To date, SHOC-NCDC has attended 40 calls related to Nipah information.

The Joint Commissioner (Livestock Health) has deployed two experts to Ernakulam, Kerala, to assist the local Animal Husbandry Department in the investigation.
Based on epidemiological findings, teams from NIV Pune and the Animal Husbandry Department are investigating bats and other animals around the residence of the confirmed case to determine the likely source and timing of transmission.
