The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Secretariat Assistant posted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bank Note Press, Dewas (Madhya Pradesh) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹60,000. The accused was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from a security services contractor, an official said on Friday.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on Tuesday following a written complaint from Vineet Rana, Director of Khedapati Security Service. Rana alleged that the accused, Ranjan Bharti, demanded a bribe of ₹60,000 for clearing bills amounting to ₹3.84 lakh related to security and human resource services.
The agency laid a trap on the same day and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of ₹60,000 through banking channels. He was subsequently arrested and produced before a CBI Special Court on Friday, which remanded him to three days of police custody.
Earlier, upon receiving the complaint, the CBI conducted verification and found sufficient prima facie evidence to register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The CBI stated that the complaint and its verification disclosed a cognizable offence punishable under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
In his complaint, Vineet Rana informed the CBI that his firm was awarded the contract on May 1, 2025, for providing security personnel at the Kendriya Vidyalaya. He stated that bills for the first month of services were still pending as Bharti had allegedly refused to process the payment. Rana further alleged that the accused hinted at clearing the bills in exchange for a commission.
