The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Army Hawaldar posted in Ranchi along with a private individual for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 in Jharkhand.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on January 30 following a complaint alleging that the Hawaldar had demanded ₹5 lakh in exchange for permitting construction work on land claimed to belong to the Army. The complaint further stated that the accused had already received part payments prior to the registration of the case.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap operation and caught both accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount. Subsequent searches were conducted at their premises.
The investigation in the matter is currently underway, the agency said.
