CBI is carrying out searches at multiple locations in connection with the Unnao rape victim’s accident case. Searches are being carried out at some locations in four districts of Lucknow, Unnao, Banda and Fatehpur. Sources said the investigation is continuing.
On 30th of last month, the car in which the rape victim was traveling, was hit by an over-speeding truck in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. Two of the victim’s aunts were killed in the incident, while she and her lawyer were critically injured.
Expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused in the rape case, was booked on charges of murder by the CBI. AIR correspondent reports that raids by the CBI officers also include residence of former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar who is lodged in Sitapur jail. CBI is conducting searches today in four districts, Lucknow, Unnao, Banda, and Fatehpur at some locations in the premises of the accused and others in an ongoing investigation. A CBI team went to Sitapur jail yesterday for interrogation from Kuldeep Singh Sengar and recorded statements of jail officials. CBI is probing if there was any conspiracy behind the accident of the rape survivor. She is still in a critical condition at a Lucknow hospital. On July 28, the Unnao girl, who has accused MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of sexual assault, was critically injured along with her lawyer after the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a truck in Raibareli.
