The United States stated that it supports direct dialogue between India and Pakistan on Kashmir and related issues, while closely monitoring India’s changes to Jammu & Kashmir’s governance and territorial status.
The US also urged both countries to maintain calm and restraint along the Line of Control (LoC) following heightened diplomatic tensions after Pakistan downgraded ties with India.
India, however, reiterated its position that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral matter with no scope for third-party mediation.
