Heavy rainfall in Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, and Gujarat led to severe flooding and at least 27 deaths.
A National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) meeting, chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, reviewed the situation and directed immediate relief and assistance to affected states.
Large-scale rescue operations were launched, involving NDRF teams, Army units, Navy and Coast Guard personnel, helicopters, boats, and aircraft. Additional forces were deployed as rainfall continued, with warnings of further heavy rain issued by IMD.
The government also instructed the release of disaster funds and support for relief measures, including crop insurance assistance.
