The Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education (Institute of Advanced Studies in Education), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, in collaboration with the Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society, organized a two-day “Awareness-cum-Sensitization and Hands-on Training Workshop on the Needs of Children with Special Needs and Their Parents” on 6th and 7th November 2025 at the Conference Hall, Child Guidance Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia.
The workshop aims to fulfill the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing inclusion, awareness, and the empowerment of all stakeholders in supporting children with special needs. During this two-day programme, parents of children with special needs will be engaged in interactive and hands-on sessions focused on understanding children’s needs, promoting their holistic development, and enhancing awareness of relevant government schemes and welfare initiatives.
The first day of the workshop commenced with an Inaugural Session, graced by the presence of Dr. Saurabh Ray Course Coordinator & Workshop Conveyor, Assistant Professor, M.Ed. Special Education (visual impairment), Dr. Tausif Alam, Assistant professor, M.Ed. Special Education (visual impairment), Mr. Naseem Ahmad, Project Director, Child Guidance Centre, Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society.
The workshop was coordinated and organized by the students of M.Ed. Special Education (SLD & VI), 3rd Semester, Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education (IASE), under the group name “Divyang Warriors.” Their dedicated efforts ensured a well-managed and impactful event.
