New Delhi, March 13:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the rapidly escalating situation in West Asia, expressing concern over rising tensions, civilian casualties, and damage to critical infrastructure in the region.
In a statement shared on social media, Modi said the discussion focused on the deteriorating security environment and the urgent need to prevent further escalation. The Prime Minister highlighted that the safety and security of Indian nationals in the region remain a top priority for New Delhi, especially as geopolitical tensions continue to affect several parts of West Asia.
Modi also emphasized the importance of ensuring uninterrupted transit of global trade and energy supplies, a critical concern for India as the region remains a key hub for crude oil and strategic shipping routes. Any disruption to these routes could have significant implications for global energy markets and supply chains.
India has consistently maintained a balanced diplomatic approach in the region, advocating restraint and dialogue among all stakeholders. During the conversation, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic resolution of conflicts in West Asia.
The discussion comes at a time when geopolitical tensions in the region have intensified, raising concerns about broader economic and security consequences. Analysts note that escalation in the region could potentially impact global oil prices, trade flows, and regional stability.
