Raipur, March 13:
The Central Government has approved additional financial assistance for states affected by natural disasters, including ₹15.70 crore for Chhattisgarh. The decision was taken by a High-Level Committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The committee sanctioned ₹1,912.99 crore in additional central assistance for states impacted by disasters during 2025, including floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, and Cyclone Montha. The funds will be released from the National Disaster Response Fund to support relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to the Union Government and Home Minister Amit Shah for the additional support provided to the state in dealing with natural disasters.
Support for disaster-affected states
According to the government, the assistance will help accelerate relief and recovery operations in disaster-affected regions. The support is part of the Centre’s broader commitment to assist states during emergency situations.
The government emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre remains committed to standing with states during natural disasters and ensuring timely availability of resources for relief and rehabilitation.
Additional funds beyond existing allocations
Officials noted that the newly approved assistance is in addition to funds already released to states for disaster management during the financial year 2025–26.
So far this year:
₹20,735.20 crore has been released to 28 states under the State Disaster Response Fund.
₹3,628.18 crore has been provided to 21 states from the National Disaster Response Fund.
₹5,373.20 crore has been released to 23 states under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund.
₹1,189.56 crore has been provided to 21 states from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund.
The Centre stated that these allocations aim to strengthen disaster response capabilities and long-term mitigation measures across the country.
