A video of another woman accusing suspended Madhugiri DySP Ramachandrappa of sexual harassment has gone viral on social media. The woman, from Bengaluru, claims that Ramachandrappa called her to his office under the pretext of discussing a legal matter and subjected her to sexual harassment.
In the video, the woman alleges: "We had filed a complaint with the Tumakuru Town Police Station and the Women’s Commission regarding a land dispute. Ramachandrappa called me, asking if I had complained to the Women’s Commission and summoned me to his office. Hoping for justice, I visited his office every day between August 11 and 14. He called me into a room, saying he wanted to discuss personal matters, and then harassed me. I informed my husband about the incident the following day."
This new allegation adds to the ongoing troubles for Ramachandrappa, who was recently arrested in connection with a separate sexual harassment case. In that case, the DySP allegedly assaulted a woman from Pavagada who had come to file a complaint regarding a bail dispute. A video of the incident, showing Ramachandrappa luring the victim to a police station restroom and assaulting her, went viral four months after the incident occurred.
Following the emergence of the video, Karnataka DGP and IGP Dr. Alok Mohan suspended Ramachandrappa and issued an order last Friday. That same evening, Ramachandrappa was arrested based on a complaint filed by the victim at the Madhugiri Police Station.
A case has been registered against the DySP under sections BNS 68, 75, and 79. After being taken into custody and questioned, Ramachandrappa was presented before a court and is now in judicial custody at Tumakuru District Jail for 14 days.
