Three Union ministers including Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh arrived in Srinagar following the diversion of air flight from Jammu to Srinagar due to bad weather and poor visibility at Jammu Airport today. The trio is among over three dozen Union Ministers who are scheduled to pay a week-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir till 24th of January, to undertake an extensive tour of the districts across 60 different locations in the Union Territory. This is the first visit by Union Ministers after the withdrawal of the special status of former State of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and bifurcation into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Officials said, the objective of the visit is to disseminate the information about the government policies with regard to the overall development of the J&K and its people along with steps taken in this direction in the last five months. The Union Ministers are scheduled to interact with the common people to educate them about the schemes and projects being implemented or to be implemented by their Ministries in J&K. The outreach programme will cover five themes including rapid development after President’s Rule from June, 2018 and after reorganization of the state in August 2019, 100% coverage of 55 beneficiary oriented schemes to all residents of J&K. They will also cover rapid infrastructure development including implementation of Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP), flagship schemes and iconic projects, good governance and rule of law with equality of opportunity to all and rapid industrial and economic growth in all sectors with a focus on incomes and employment. A Central Control Room on 24×7 basis with a dedicated team of officers has been established to ensure seamless co-ordination between various Ministries of Government of India, Administrative Departments, Divisional and District Administration and to facilitate all arrangements including travel, logistics, security and field visits. A separate WhatsApp Group has been set up to keep all concerned Officers informed about all the required details on a real-time basis. Pertinently, the Chief Secretary after reviewing preparations for the visit of Union Ministers issued a slew of directions to the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners for closely coordinating the visit of the dignitaries so that all events related to the visit are organized impressively and elegantly with the participation of Panchayat Representatives and the general public. |
