The accused, Deenu Satyanarayana, serving as Prohibition & Excise Inspector in Bichkunda, was caught red-handed by ACB officials while accepting the bribe at his rented residence in Bichkunda.
According to officials, the inspector had allegedly demanded ₹2,00,000 from the complainant in exchange for extending an official favour. The favour involved not pressuring the complainant to relocate toddy shops from villages and refraining from registering further cases, thereby allowing the shops to operate without interference.
Following a complaint, ACB laid a trap and apprehended the accused during the transaction. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
The ACB has urged citizens to report any instances of bribery or corruption involving public servants. Complaints can be lodged through the toll-free number 1064, WhatsApp, Facebook, or the official website of the bureau. Authorities have assured that the identity of complainants will be kept strictly confidential.
