In a major breakthrough, the STF’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested Pradeep Shukla, a key member of the Harry Boxer gang and a ₹20,000 reward-carrying absconding accused, from Morena district.
The SIT had been constituted under the supervision of Additional Director General STF D. Srinivas Verma and led by Deputy Inspector General (Rail) Rahul Lodha to investigate a series of organised crimes linked to the gang across Ashoknagar, Indore, Bhopal, and Khargone districts.
The arrest is linked to a case registered at Kotwali police station, Ashoknagar, following an incident on February 11–12, where a local trader allegedly received an extortion threat from Harry Boxer, who falsely claimed links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Earlier in the same case, police had arrested Manish Jangid (Jaipur), Pawan Sharma (Gormi, Bhind), and Dinesh Suthar (Bikaner, Rajasthan). However, the main accused, Pradeep Shukla of Defence Colony, Agra, had been on the run since the incident.
Investigators found that Shukla had instructed co-accused Manish Jangid to conduct reconnaissance of the complainant’s house and carry out firing, while also arranging funds through online transfers from Gormi (Bhind) and Goa.
Police said Shukla is a senior operative of the Harry Boxer gang, with nine serious criminal cases already registered against him, including extortion, intimidation, and attempted murder.
During his time on the run, he reportedly kept shifting between Rajasthan, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh to evade arrest.
Following sustained tracking efforts by STF and SIT teams, he was finally nabbed on April 8 while arriving from Shikarpur in Morena district. Further legal proceedings are underway.
