Child Guidance Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) celebrated National Sports Day today to commemorate Birth Anniversary of Indian Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand. The centre is being run by Dr Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society (ZHMWS) for children with special needs. The event was organised in association with an NGO Shikar Organisation.
Students participated in events like Junior 50 Metre race (Boys), Senior 100 Metre race (Boys), T-Shirt Race, Bucketing the ball (Girls), Balloon Race and Musical Chair.
The 1st and 2nd prizes to the winners and consolation prizes to all the participants were given. The programme concluded with a speech addressed by Prof. Sara Begum, Secretary, ZHMWS on the importance of Sports for Children with special needs.
The event was attended by Directors of Shikhar Organisation Mohammad Nadeem Akhtar and Ms. Anam Gandhi.
