The Lokayukta police on Friday carried out a surprise raid at the Rampur Baghelan tehsil office in Satna district and arrested a Naib Tehsildar and a chowkidar for allegedly accepting a bribe in a revenue-related matter.
Bribe Taken for Revenue Work
The accused Naib Tehsildar has been identified as Virendra Singh Jaisur, posted in the Mauhari–Katra circle. According to Lokayukta officials, he had demanded illegal gratification from a complainant in exchange for clearing a pending revenue work.
Trap Laid After Complaint
After receiving a formal complaint, the Rewa Lokayukta team planned a trap operation. Officials said the Naib Tehsildar had already taken ₹10,000 earlier as part of the bribe. When he was accepting the remaining amount on Friday, the Lokayukta team caught him red-handed inside the tehsil office.
Chowkidar Also Named Accused
The Lokayukta has also booked a chowkidar in the case, alleging that he acted as an intermediary and facilitated communication between the official and the complainant regarding the bribe demand.
Panic at Tehsil Office
The sudden action triggered chaos at the tehsil premises, with staff members left stunned as the officials were taken into custody for questioning.
