As part of the Round Table India (RTI) & Ladies Circle India (LCI) ongoing initiatives to support the communities, Bangalore Ladies Circle India 19 and Bangalore Round Table 7 from Area 6 held their 45th Annual Limb Donation at Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Bengaluru, and donated 390 limbs to many beneficiaries in need to lead a normal life. The total cost of the project is Rs 7,80,000 (Seven Lakhs & Eighty Thousand).
The annual project, a donation drive which aids to provide good options for limb transplant to the needy, had modest beginnings with the first donation of a single prosthetic limb in 1980. Over the last 45 years, close to 10,000 limbs at a total cost of over Rs 1 Crore have been donated as a result of this initiative.
Speaking on the occasion Cr. Siddhika, Chairperson of Bangalore Ladies Circle 19 said, "The power to bring change is in each of us. The power to create a better society is in each of us. Our Limb Donation initiative is centred on improving society and ensuring a just and equal future. We truly believe empowering people to lead a better life is the best way to impact society."
"One of the first thoughts that comes to one's mind, when someone loses a limb, is extreme anxiety and feels like life has come to a standstill. Especially in the case of a child, it is a state of both confusion and sadness. Some of them are too young to even realize what has come upon them", added Cr. Siddhika.
"We are committed to building on the continued yearly initiative of Round Table India and Ladies Circle India in the area of limb donation, and we want to ensure that RTI and LCI rank among the most successful organisation in terms of the number of limbs donated, the number of people who get impacted by these generous donations and the subsequent quality of life of limb recipients," said Tr.Sharan, Chairman, Bangalore Round Table 7.
