Rajasthan Police has reported a 4.65% decline in overall crimes registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) during the first six months of 2026 compared to the corresponding period last year, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma announced on Monday while presenting the department's six-month performance report.
According to the DGP, BNS cases declined from 99,272 in the first half of 2025 to 94,652 during the same period in 2026, reflecting the impact of proactive policing and preventive crime-control measures.
Serious crimes also registered notable declines. Murder cases fell by 4.41%, attempt to murder by 11.17%, robbery by 19.93%, dacoity by 16.28%, kidnapping by 4.72%, rape by 13.36%, and POCSO cases by 20.90%. Cases registered under the SC/ST Act also declined by 18.81%.
Sharma said Rajasthan Police is shifting its focus beyond post-crime investigation to crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, and technology-driven law enforcement, making predictive policing a key priority going forward.
