A virtual meeting of departmental officers was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Shri T. Ravikant, Principal Secretary, Mines & Petroleum Department.
Issuing clear directions, he stated that under the Amnesty Scheme for waiver of pending interest dues, Superintending Mining Engineers will hold one-to-one interactions with major defaulters to accelerate recovery. At the same time, other defaulters will be contacted by concerned Mining Engineers and Assistant Mining Engineers, who must explain the scheme provisions and make concrete efforts for collection of dues falling within its ambit.
The Principal Secretary informed that the scheme will be reviewed regularly at the state level. The Financial Advisor of the department will prepare daily reports for submission to the government, while Additional Directors will carry out periodic reviews at the circle level, providing guidance and coordination.
Shri Ravikant stressed that the state government is serious about revenue collection, and no negligence will be tolerated. He pointed out that the Amnesty Scheme has been designed to be simple and beneficial, offering up to 90% waiver on pending interest. Field officers are responsible for contacting all eligible defaulters and making determined efforts for recovery. Except for cases under a court stay, he instructed officials to speed up recovery in all other matters.
He recalled that Chief Minister and Mines Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the need for this Amnesty Scheme, as it will enable the recovery of long-pending revenue while saving unnecessary time and money spent in collection processes. The manpower currently engaged in prolonged recovery efforts can then be redirected to more productive tasks.
The Principal Secretary reported that till August 2025, the department has already collected over ₹3,460 crore in revenue. He also directed recovery of old and current dues along with penalties imposed for illegal mining activities, stressing that tangible results in collection must be visible.
He further instructed timely handling of assembly questions, call attention matters, cases referred by the Chief Minister, and other official communications, while also reducing the execution time of e-files to the minimum possible level.
Additional Director (Headquarters) Shri Mahesh Mathur informed that the state government has raised the revenue target for the year, making it imperative to accelerate recovery efforts. Financial Advisor Shri Girish Kachhara added that regular monitoring of revenue collection is being carried out at the headquarters level.
