Jaipur, April 16: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said the state government is committed to zero tolerance against corruption and crime, while prioritising a safe and fear-free environment for citizens.
Addressing the 77th Rajasthan Police Foundation Day state-level समारोह at the Rajasthan Police Academy, the Chief Minister said the police force has played a vital role in maintaining law and order through discipline, dedication and public service.
He said that overall crime in Rajasthan declined by 18.77% over the past two years, reflecting the impact of the government’s focused policing measures. According to the Chief Minister, murder cases dropped by 25.68%, dacoity by 47.26%, robbery by 50.75%, and crimes against women by nearly 10% during the same period.
Sharma noted that community policing will be key in tackling cybercrime, narcotics and organised crime, stressing that active citizen participation can act as the strongest shield against such threats.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s institutional response, including the formation of an Anti-Narcotics Task Force, establishment of one dedicated police station and 17 police outposts, and the functioning of an Anti-Gangster Task Force to curb organised crime and firearm-related violence.
On police modernisation and welfare, he said the government has issued appointment letters to over 8,000 constables, created two additional SP offices, two DSP offices and 23 new police stations, while also upgrading police outposts and expanding mobile policing units.
During the ceremony, Sharma inspected the ceremonial parade, paid tribute to martyrs, honoured personnel with distinguished service medals, and also launched a new portal and mobile app for retired police personnel.
