Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the passage of the Jammu & Kashmir-related bills in Parliament, describing it as a historic moment for Indian democracy and a step towards greater integration and empowerment of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
He stated that the measures would bring new opportunities for youth, improve infrastructure, and accelerate development in the region. The Prime Minister also congratulated the people of Ladakh on the fulfillment of their long-standing demand for Union Territory status, expressing confidence that it would boost the region’s prosperity and development.
Modi praised Members of Parliament and political parties for rising above ideological differences to support the legislation. He also acknowledged the leadership of Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Home Minister Amit Shah for their roles in the passage of the bills.
The Prime Minister described the decision as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee for their contributions to India's unity and integrity.
